About me

Hi there! I’m Jessica (or just Jess to those that know me best), and I’m so glad you stumbled across this little page.

I’m a twenty-something humanities graduate from a small ranching community in California. My husband and I renovated a fifth wheel that we are living in full time and it has been an ADVENTURE. However, in my imagination I live in a little white cottage in the Scottish Highlands (more to come on that later).

My favorite seasons are autumn (the crisp fall mornings, the changing leaves, cozy sweaters, and of course ALL things pumpkin) and summer (the clear blue skies, warm nights, farmers markets, green grass, and running around with bare feet). I love soft blankets, good food, wildflowers, and the smell of a new book – book lovers, you know what I’m talking about. I despise coffee but can’t resist a good cup of tea, and one may say that I burn too many candles (but really, is there ever such thing as too many candles?). When I’m not traipsing around the countryside or planning my next adventure, you can find me in the nearest library or hanging out in the kitchen with my family or husband, or really anyone who wants to laugh and dance with me.

I absolutely LOVE traveling to new places. Growing up, my parents took us on at least one vacation every summer. My dad would hook up the trailer and we would road trip our way across every state and National Park west of Texas. I never realized how unusual that was until high school when I discovered that quite a few of my friends had never been outside of California. Their love of traveling and exploring definitely rubbed off on me, and I can’t wait to share that with my husband and any future kids we may have. As much as I love the western states, I would have to say that my favorite place I’ve ever been to is Scotland. I have never felt as “at home” anywhere else as I did there. There’s just something about its windswept highlands and dark lochs, the wild heather brushing the hillsides, and ancient stone castles that just enchants my soul.

As much as I love exploring new places, I am equally as comfortable curled up in front of a cozy fire – a warm cup of Earl Grey in my left hand and an excellent book in my right. Escaping into a good book is a much loved pastime of mine. The magic they hold is one of my favorite types of adventure.

I started blogging when the daily grind became a little too stale, and I found myself needing a creative outlet – something to get excited about and, hopefully, inspire people. Also, it was quickly becoming apparent that my rambles were getting a bit too long for an Instagram caption.

This blog is my own little corner of the internet – a space to share whatever is on my mind. Most of the time that will mean sharing my travels and adventures. However, you’ll also find my favorite recipes, photography, traveling tips, DIY projects as we fix up our tiny home, etc.

So, pour yourself some tea and cozy up. I can’t wait to meet you.
